MNE I.201. * 1874 veranlaßte Otto von Bismarck Arnims Abberufung als Botschafter in Paris. Bei seinem Abgang hatte sich Arnim Dokumente angeeignet, woraufhin er auf Bismarcks Betreib…en in einem spektakulären Prozeß zu neun Monaten Gefängnis verurteilt wurde. Er floh und publizierte aus seinem Schweizer Exil scharfe Angriffe gegen Bismarcks Regierungsweise (darunter unter dem Titel "Pro nihilo!"), was ihm wiederum eine - wegen Abwesenheit nicht vollstreckte - Zuchthausstrafe von 5 Jahren wegen Landesverrats einbrachte. Auf diesen umstrittenen Prozeß geht der sogenannte "Arnim-Paragraph" (§ 353a StGB) zurück. Laut MNE könnte auch Harry Graf Arnim selbst der Verfasser des vorliegenden Pamphlets sein, zumal dieses weitere Angriffe auf Bismarck enthält und somit ebenfalls für das im Erscheinungsjahr 1876 gefällte Zuchthausurteil mitverantwortlich sein könnte.
