Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 24.5 cm x 30 cm, [2], xviii, 96pp, hand-coloured aquatint frontispiece bound in sequence between the plates and fifty uncoloured aquatint plates (as called for). The last page the outer blank margin neatly strengthened, some very occasional early pencil notes to the contents some even age toning. The contents tight with no inscriptions. Re-cased using the original full calf boards and retaining the end papers. Later matching spine with 7 compartments with central gilt tooling within borders, leather title label. The binding tight with no splits or chips some rubbing to the edges of the boards and corners.

Contains [xviii] 96 printed pages of text with hand-coloured aquatint frontispiece bound in sequence between the plates and fifty uncoloured aquatint plates (as called for). Rebacked and recornered, original spine laid down with small amount of loss, bump to head of lower board, inner joints strengthened. Internally some light browning, plates with light foxing and browning to edges and often to images, but tolerably clean. Half Calf. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Colour aquatint frontis, title, xviii, 96 pp + 50 plain aquatint plates. Not in Abbey. Brown called himself "architect and professor of perspective" dedicated his book to Soane, and seems to have been a friend of Soane's draughtsman Gandy. He exhibited at the Royal Academy 1804-1828, showing a design for Regent's park in 1812 and military buildings for the Gold Coast in 1818. Re-spined in brown calf with decorative panels with red morrocco title panel. Slight transference to the verso of some of the plates, but the pages are generally clean. edges a little wavy, and boards very rubbed. 4to.
