Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Philadelphia, Saunders, 1903 [first edition]. Large octavo, [3]-592, [15] (catalogue) pages with 176 illustrations plus 4 colour plates. Cloth lightly marked and slightly rubbed at the extremities, with resultant minor loss of colour to the cloth; head of the spine very slightly snagged; an excellent copy. A comprehensive early monograph on the use of X-rays in medicine, published less than a decade after their discovery by Wilhelm Röntgen in 1895. It is divided into two parts, 'X-Ray Apparatus and its use in Diagnosis' and 'The Therapeutic Application of X-Rays'. The irregular pagination at the beginning of the book comprises a blank leaf and the title leaf (both unnumbered), followed by the first page of the list of contents, numbered 7. This copy is undisturbed in its original binding and is presumably as issued.
