Soft cover. Condition: Good. Philosophy of Science, readings selected, edited, and introduced by Arthur Danto and Sidney Morgenbesser, with a preface by Ernest Nagel. An Original Meridian Book, number M90. Originally published in March 1960; this copy is explicitly identified on the copyright page as the sixth printing, April 1966. A substantial anthology of major writings in the philosophy of science organized around questions of scientific language and experience, laws and theories, space, time, causality, and the nature and methodology of scientific inquiry. Contributors represented include Bertrand Russell, Ernest Nagel, L. Susan Stebbing, Rudolf Carnap, Pierre Duhem, Ludwig Boltzmann, Isaac Newton, Henri Poincaré, and others. Condition: Good paperback. Original gold and brown wrappers show considerable rubbing, scuffing, surface wear, and numerous creases consistent with use and age. Edges and corners are rubbed, with some loss of the printed surface along the extremities. Spine shows rubbing, creasing, and edge wear but remains intact and readable. Page edges are age-toned, with some handling wear and slight deformation visible at the upper edge. Interior pages shown remain legible and generally clean. Binding appears intact. No obvious institutional markings are visible in the photographed pages. Please see photographs for the extent of exterior wear. Although this is a sixth printing rather than the 1960 first printing, the original Meridian M90 format and period cover design give it some appeal beyond that of a modern textbook reprint.
