About the book >.>.> After the idea of a foundation for contemporary art had come into being about five years…ago, my father could unfortunately only be a part of the statutory phase of its preparation. The board of trustees had not yet been formed, nor had the location been chosen. His affinity with art was not so much that of a collector who makes the rounds of galleries and auctions; it had more to do with artists whom he encountered through- out his life and whose company he enjoyed. This often led to lasting friendships, and he encouraged these artists with commissions for work or other supportive gestures. The foundation which has been named after him wishes to support artists in their development and to present their work to the public as well as possible. This goal can be achieved in a variety of ways: by organizing exhibitions, but also by purchas- ing work, making publications and providing temporary studio space to artists. In compiling the first exhibition, we chose to concent.
