Hardcover. Condition: Good +. Light brown cloth with blind stamped decorative motifs in black with gilt insets with gilt titles on front and spine. Wear, aging, soiling to covers. Wear to tips & spine ends. Binding is firm. Toning/soiling to text block. Moderate soiling at ends; otherwise interior is age toned with light soiling in margins.

The back cover has a glass water stain. The binding is tight and intact. The pages do exhibit tanning, but otherwise clean. The front page has a previous owner's inscription in very fluid script. Retreating from urban life to a quieter rural setting, he encounters the Walton family, particularly Miss Walton, whose practical kindness and moral steadiness gradually "open" his hardened, defensive nature.
