Reprints the rare 1863 edition. Hewitt's overland narrative. McCaffrey's book design is usually marked by either a lingering, perhaps outdated, element of Vic…toriana, using colored paper and floral effect to a nostalgic fault, or an enthusiastic, and often accomplished, embrace of art deco design. Occasionally, such as this title indicates, McCaffrey found inspiration from early Western print design. See HOWES H457; SMITH 4394; SOLIDAY I: 1099.
