Blue cloth covers. vii+264; single worm-hole lower outer margin p.121-222, with a second from there to end and through back cover - which actually has a third, lower than textblock edge, another to top inner margin p.233 to end and several to cover in same region, these are all small and leave text unaffected, browning to outer sides of endpapers, half-title and a few spots to t.p., prev.owners 1941-dated pencilled sig. top fr.free endpaper, some paper thinning and sm.hole to top same, after all of which I can say it is internally clean, tight and unmarked (it also has a small cutting of relevant letters from The Times, dated August 1941, slipped in); covers generally clean and minimally but strip of patchy pigment loss across bottom front, few traces of same bottom back, plus aforementioned sm. worm-holes. An uncommon and interesting work and despite faults this copy remains fairly acceptable. Although not Psychology in any formal sense this may have interest to psychologists concerned with the notion of 'national character'.

Private library bookplate on front pastedown and paper shelving label foot of spine. Gilt titles, spine darkened, covers moderately soiled, internals nice. Author makes a compelling case for the character of the German people to be amenable to authoritarianism, a prescient view in 1916, years before Hitler took dictatorial power. Not uncommon in academic libraries, but uncommon in rare book commerce.
