Limited Edition. 138 pages of letterpress & with 16 mounted colour plates on cartridge HMP with tissue guards, with 48 black and white plates all extra to the pagination, all printed on hand made paper, two-tone cloth, tan boards and a quarter darker chocolate brown cloth covering the spine, boards have discoloured with mottled appearance on the boards, not the spine, some foxing to illustrated endpapers, dustwrapper has some almost invisible strengthening at head and tail of the spines to the reverse, contents near fine, large quarto. SIGNED & hand numbered by the author on limitation page on verso of half title "Peter Scott" in ink. Large quarto. Limited to 1200 copies for sale, this being No 281/750.* The book he reminiscences about both the love for his birds and also his days of hunting them in punts and the coastal reed beds of the Fens. Slimbridge was not a thing at this time, the war and his time patrolling the English Channel changed his views on wildfowling and all things related. Signed by Author(s).

Hardcover. Condition: Good. Oversized hardcover. 3/4 blue leather binding with blue cloth over boards and gold lettering with raised bands on the spine. Signed by Peter Scott (author and illustrator) on the title page. Fifth impression. Publication date for this impression is 1941. Two volumes (Morning Flight: A Book of Wildfowl & Wild Chorus) bound as one. Morning Flight is 138 pages and Wild Chorus is 118 pages, however only the pages of text are numbered. Interspersed are pages of illustrations, which don't count in the page numbers. In good condition. The binding is strong and square. Corners and edges are bumped and rubbed. Covers very lightly rubbed, but the rubbing is mainly on the spine. Spine is also toned. Pages are free of foreign markings but a bit toned with a small amount of foxing. Plates within are bright and in good condition. Signature reads, "Inscribed for David by Peter Scott. Washington May 16, 1997." This is an oversized (and overweight) book. Condition: poor. First Edition. Signed edition limited to 750 copies for sale of which this is number 481. HB. Tan cloth cover, dark brown spine with gilt lettering, teg. Pale blue dust jacket. 138pp, large quarto. Author's self portrait colour frontis. 16 colour plate reproductions of Peter Scott's paintings, and 46 in b&w, as well as line drawings in text. Some darkening to tan of covers, top of spine damaged with tear through title and it looks as though the cloth has been poorly restuck, some tiny indentations to top. Previous owner's small book plate to front pastedown, also previous owner's inscription to reverse fep. Some light spotting to endpapers. Dust jacket price clipped and heavily tanned. Loss of top 5cm of dust jacket spine has been repaired with similar paper but now lacks title. Similar small repair to bottom 1cm. Damage to the top 5cm of spine. Now in protective sleeve. A Good+ copy in still Good dust jacket.

This book, both written and illustrated by the son of "Scott of the Antarctic" by the time he was 25, speaks to his wonderment and admiration of this particular bird, "Like a symphony of Beethoven, the call of the geese is everlasting, and those who have once known and loved it can never tire of hearing it." Not long after this book, his work during W.W.II resulted in his becoming a Member of the Order of the British Empire. Endpapers, while showing age and with some pencil markings, are beautifully--yet simply--illustrated with geese in flight from one side to the other. "Eric Sedgwick Hervey" bookplate.
