"Thomas Troward (1847 - 1916) is best remembered and most celebrated for a few small volumes that have had a profound effect on the understanding and development of spiritual metaphysics, in particular that of the New Thought movement. Troward formally inaugurated his most important contribution to New Thought with a series of lectures delivered in 1904 in Edinburgh. Published as 'The Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science', they are the cornerstone of Troward's philosophy, and a milestone in the development of metaphysical reasoning. In 1909 Troward clarified, reinforced, and amplified his earlier themes in a new set of lectures given at the Doré Art Gallery in London. Published as 'The Doré Lectures on Mental Science', they flesh out Troward's more skeletal 'Edinburgh Lectures' and suggest lines along which the reader can apply its principles." (The above was excerpted from the book's blurb.) The two sets of Lectures are here presented in a single, paperback volume. ************************************* TITLE : The Edinburgh & Doré Lectures on Mental Science / AUTHOR : Thomas Troward (1847 - 1916) / IMPRINT : DeVorss Publications / PLACE : Marina Del Rey, CA / DATE : (1989) / EDITION : Reprint / DETAILS : Trade paperback; contains a Preface (A Word from the Publisher), Forewords to each set of Lectures, notes.
