Sir John Bland-Sutton (1855-1936) was a British surgeon at Middlesex Hospital and President of the Royal Society of Medicine (1920-1922) and of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (1923-1925). In 1909 he decided to travel to Uganda and arrived in Mombasa on Jan 2, 1910. He took the Uganda Railroad inland and then travelled all around the country including Victoria Nyanza and the Great Rift Valley. He describes the landscape, people, and animals he encountered. He recounts the experiences of various big game hunters and briefly describes his own hunting safari to the Lake Nakuru area. Illustrated with 94 woodcuts throughout the text. Bound in publisher's dark cloth with gold decoration of an ivory carrier on the front cover and gold spine titles. Previous owner name on front pastedown. Spine titles a bit faded. Minor spotting to top page edge. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 252 pages.
