Hardcover: H 23.25cm x L 14.75cm. Original dark green cloth rubbed and soiled, a few small black (ink?) stains upon front board with same more obtrusive staining to rear board, spine's gilt stamped lettering remains bright, short tears and fraying at bumped spine ends, repair to tears at heads of front and rear joints, small slender chip at near top of front joint adjacent to title block, spine's top compartment has black circular impression presumably some removed sticker (unlikely to be an institutional mark as none are evident on interior leaves), several slender patches of worn cloth along bottom board edges and lower fore-edges with bumped corners worn too. Soiling and toning to text block edges. Antiquarian ink ownership signature ("W.H. Moore"?) on title page; regular and blue pencil margin marks and notes on pages 32-33 in a more modern handwriting style; blue pencil underlining and margin marks on pages 128-129; several other blue pencil marks erased from margins but perhaps a few still extent after my attentive collation; some scattered soiling; some foxing mostly occurring upon initial and rear leaves; a few creased page corners. Xerox clipping from British bookseller R.D. Gurney Ltd. from their Catalogue 52, 1969 laid-in at front endpapers noting this copy as Book #85 with their pencil price at front pastedown's top left corner. Front and rear hinges show some sight stress with a few other stress points amongst text block but binding still firm. A good+ copy. Gurney succinctly summaries book as "a translation of the first course of lectures given by Dupin at the Conservatoire des Arts et Metiers. He was one of the most distinguished of the group of French writers on applied mathematics, who followed [Gaspard] Monge.".
