Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. This is a vintage 1938 paperback printing of the novel "Mantrap" by Sinclair Lewis, published by The American Mercury, Inc. which was also the publisher of The American Mercury Magazine. It appears to have been one of a number of 25 cent books sold as part of the magazine's late 1930s book-of-the-month club (there is an ad at the end of this book for this club). Lewis's novel was originally published in 1926 by Harcourt and Brace. Though there were other 1930s paperback editions of this book, but this Mercury printing is scarce. "Mantrap" is the story of a New York City lawyer who seeks relief and release in the Canadian wilderness, yet encounters a very different experience. It is one of Sinclair Lewis's lesser known works. TITLE : Mantrap AUTHOR : Sinclair Lewis IMPRINT : The American Mercury, Inc. PLACE : New York DATE : 1938 EDITION : Reprint SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES : Uncommon early paperback. DETAILS : Trade Paperback; size = 5 1/2 x 7 3/4 - decorated wraps; 123 pages CONDITION -- VERY GOOD -- This is a previously owned book that remains clean, solid and serviceable, with the following particulars noted: EXTERIOR - There is some rubbing along spine. Front cover corners are bumped with some edge abrasion; fore-edge tips are also bumped. There are some spots of abrasion on rear cover and some mild wear to cover edges. BINDING - Solid and still surprisingly tight. INTERIOR - Paper is considerably toned, as is commonly the case.
