Charles William Slemming (1903-1974) was the author of several books on the typological significance of Old Testament passages. He served as a pastor for 11 years in Bangor, Reading, Hove, Thornton Heath, and Upminster, but from 1946 worked for the Bible Testimony Fellowship, of which he became director in 1959. Gift inscription: "To Judy, with happy memories and best wishes from the author, C W Slemming, 25/12/38.". Signed by Author.

Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Some cracking to gutters with exposed netting. Binding loose. Some marginalia and underlining. A previous owner's name to front free endpaper. Boards have moderate shelf wear with mild bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. All surfaces tanned and sunned, particularly spine. Ring stain on front.

Pages with some foxing and tanning, particularly to endpapers and textblock edges. Binding remains firm. Boards have light shelf wear with minor corner bumping and crushing to spine ends. Unclipped jacket has heavy edge wear with tears, chipping and creasing. Some tanning and foxing to all surfaces, particularly to spine.

Hardback in dustjacket. The jacket has some small tears and foxing. The blue cloth binding has some slight discolouration, it is sound. The endpaper is browning and has an inscription from the author. There is some light edge foxing throughout. Illustrated, 184.
