Hardcover. First Edition. Printed colour illustrations throughout. Decorative coloured paper covered boards and blue cloth spine are a little worn at corners and bumped at head and foot of spine. The rear top corner particularly has a 1sqcm loss of coloured paper cover, and below it is a little creasing to the rear board. Acquired from Maud Lloyd, an admired leading dancer with Ballet Rambert in the 1930s. Later she wrote, with her husband, Nigel Gosling, influential dance books and reviews under the pseudonym, 'Alexander Bland'. When Rudolph Nureyev defected in 1961, they became his surrogate parents.

Printed at the Curwen Press - a nice example of their celebrated pochoir-process illustration. Very Good (some wear to extremities with minor loss to cover paper, ink inscription to front pastedown, browning to free endpapers but otherwise internally very clean) with the small discreet blind-embossed stamps of Dr Trevor Weston to the corner of the rear endpaper.
