Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Escape With One's Life-Learning to live with survival is the story of a commercial air flight from San Jose, Costa Rica to Tegucigalpa, Honduras on October 21, 1989. After a short stopover in Managua, the Continental Airlines leased plane crashed into a mountainside near the Honduran capital. The author is one of fifteen survivors among the 146 people on board including thirteen North Americans. The book focuses on why the fifteen survivors were flying that day and how each of them miraculously escaped the inferno that ensued shortly after the Boeing 727-200 failed to reach its intended destination. Eyewitness accounts describe courageous and heroic actions of both survivors and local residents. Nine years after the crash, the author decided to document the experience when he watched another survivor being interviewed on Spanish language television about her survival and her support for burn victims in Nicaragua. Escape With One's Life describes the effect the tragedy had on the lives of the survivors and the family members of deceased passengers. The author's journey to understand the trauma and heal from it are the central thrust of the book with particular emphasis on the impact of trauma, the author's struggles to understand his inner conflicts and to eventually overcome them through the process of documenting his experience. Escape is a gripping account of survival and how numerous people overcame pain and suffering to move ahead with their lives.…

Hardback. Condition: Good. Although we?ve been conditioned to think ?middle aged? is practically a four-letter word, the realities of women in midlife today are far different than what our mothers experienced. Women in their 40s, 50s, and even 60s are living younger, vibrant lives. But influenced by our youth-obsessed culture, we fear that when we hit midlife, we stop being relevant and no longer have options?that it?s simply too late for us.Contradicting long-ingrained beliefs, Robi Ludwig draws on myth-busting data from scientific research and on her experience as a therapist to show midlife is not the beginning of our decline?it is actually a time to pursue our dreams. In Your Best Age Is Now, she offers specific advice on how to change our perception of this next life phase and make the best of it by:· Letting go of stress to create a more balanced life;· Identifying false thinking that is holding us back;· Taking charge of our love life and relationships;· Staying relevant in the workplace or starting new, exciting careers;· Becoming more spiritual and leading a life of gratitude; and more.Your Best Age Is Now provides the guidance you need to reject the status quo, become more ?you? than ever before, and find the kind of happiness you never thought possible.…

Paperback. Condition: Fair. Meeting your deepest needsLearn how you can successfully operate a prayer ministry by confronting demonic strongholds and delivering oppressed people in Jesus' name. What happens when a nuclear engineer, who grew up viewing and working the world through the lens of logic, is confronted with the supernatural power of God that healed his daughter of an incurable disease? This remarkable event led author Tom Hauser to surrender his life to Jesus and to ultimately pursue a life in ministry. His experiences as a Vineyard pastor and short-term missionary with Randy Clark's Global Awakening ministry have equipped him in a deliverance ministry that has set many captives free from suffering, abuse, bondage, and demonic strongholds. Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed (John 8:36). Healing and deliverance are part of the price your Savior paid for you--it's time to walk in the fullness and authority He has given all His children. Breaking Free shares real-life, modern-day testimonies and sound biblical teaching about effective prayer ministry. It is a detailed training book that includes easy-to-understand and apply principles, and a detailed Appendix full of Scripture, prayers, and other ministry supplemental materials to aid you in becoming a life-changer--today. …

Paperback. Condition: Good. Ask anyone: Is there something about your life that you would like to change? and the answer will most likely be a resounding YES Change is something most of us want but few of us practically achieve. In Life Change, rising voice Jordan Easley takes a spiritual approach to the topic, walking readers through the book of Mark to highlight stories of life change in the Bible. Looking at seven miracles Jesus performed throughout that text and the people who were changed by them, Jordan shows how the power of God enables us to do what we are incapable of doing ourselves. It may feel like the odds are stacked against us, but the good news is that change is possible, and it happens when we live out this three-step process: A NEW HOPE: Establish an authentic relationship that inspires and sustains hope in your life.A NEW WAY OF THINKING: As a result of that relationship, you have a new way of thinking.A NEW WAY OF LIVING: As a result of your new way of thinking, you have a new way of living.…

Hardback. Condition: Very Good. All places are not created equal. In this groundbreaking book, Richard Florida shows that where we live is increasingly a crucial factor in our lives, one that fundamentally affects our professional and personal prospects. As well as explaining why place matters now more than ever, Who's Your City? provides indispensable tools to help you choose the right place for you. It's a cliche of the information age that globalization has made place irrelevant, that one can telecommute as effectively from New Zealand as New York. But it's not true, Richard Florida argues, relying on 20 years of innovative research in urban studies, creativity, and demographic trends. In fact, as new units of economic growth called mega-regions become increasingly specialized, the world is becoming more and more spiky divided between flourishing clusters of talent, education and competitiveness, and moribund valleys. All these places have personalities, Richard Florida explains in the second half of Who's Your City?, and happiness depends on finding the city in which you can balance your personal and career goals to thrive. More people than ever before now have the opportunity to choose where to live, but at different points in our lives we need different kinds of places, he points out. What a couple of recent college graduates want from their city isn't necessarily what a retiree is looking for. You have to find the place that suits you best: a boho-burb neighborhood isn't likely to be the best fit for patio man. Sparkling with Richard Florida's signature intellectual originality, Who's Your City? moves from insights to studies to personal anecdotes, to surprising data on the difference aesthetics makes to people's sense of place. A perceptive and transformative book, it is both a brilliant exploration of the fundamental importance of place and an essential guide to making what may be the most important decision of your life.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. The author of this book assumes you love life and don't like the idea of dying. He suspects, too, that were you to die today, you are not sure you could do so at peace and be able to say, I have lived my best possible life. He also takes for granted you have retained fanciful notions you were taught as a child about living, dying, and death, including nonsense about the grim reaper. This book relentlessly pursues truth and life. In the Introduction, Robinson calls you to update your worldview so it's coherent and to be true to your self in behalf of being your best self and living your best life. In Part One, he introduces ten steps that will help you let go of childhood thinking and connect you with realistic understandings of life. He explains how to integrate three basic models of life, adopt a positive view of life that's also realistic, affirm your personal freedom, identify and choose worthy life purposes, engage life with both passion and good sense, be an authentic world citizen, defeat toxic powers and let positive ones nourish you, live creatively in the present, and open yourself to joy as well as happiness. He caps this section helping you understand what it means to trust and practice perfect love. Part Two is also about living robustly. The author distinguishes between the ongoing process of dying and death as a state of being (or non-being), and quickly rejects denial, morbidity and escapist fantasies as adequate ways to deal with them. He then elaborates on 6 creative approaches to dying and death that are honest, liberating and edifying. Along the way, he explains what to kill the grim reaper means, and how to do it. His penetrating point is that until you get real about living, dying and death, you cannot be your best self or live your best possible life. In the first of the book's two postscripts, the author tells the poignant story of his wife's suddenly discovered illness in July of 2008, and of her dying in October. In the second, he tells what was going on in him the next summer, when a life-threatening illness forces him to face his own possible dying. PRAISE for CREATE YOUR BEST LIFE, KILL THE GRIM REAPER This book should be read by anyone expecting to die some day. Young people live as if it can't happen to them, and a lot of us older folks try not to think about our imminent departure, but the author thinks we should and makes a strong case for doing so. It 's an easy and fun read, and makes more sense than anything I've seen on death and dying. I'm buying copies for all of my children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. It's a good road map for their remaining years as it is for mine. Robert F. Hanson, Professor-Emeritus, San Diego State University Here is a very frank, practical and personal book about living and dying well that will greatly benefit not only professionals but also the general reader. Sherellen Gerhart, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Hospice of the East Bay, Pleasant Hill, CA Robinson's book is magic. Author: Plays in Search of an Ending Duke Robinson, a very wise pastor, has poured himself into an insightful discussion of living a good life and dying a good death.
