The first edition of Libyan Notes, produced by British explorers David Randall-Maciver and Anthony Wilkin.In the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt stamped illustration.Illustrated with a coloured frontispiece and a further twnety-five numbered plates of engravings and black and white photographs. With four plates of eight tables and more in-text vignettes. Collated complete.The pair undertook an expedition to Algeria in spring 1900, with the primary aim of connecting the Berber tribe with Egyptian ancestors. Their final work shows a greatly expanded anthropological study of the people and their environs.Wilkin had previously published, Among the Berbers of Algeria, in 1900.
