Contact seller4-star sellerFull Leather. Condition: Poor. Leather of covers dried and peeling off boards, edges and corners chipped, covers and endpapers detached. Few pages chipped, otherwise pages good. (Smith I:92) From Smith - "Paul" is somewhat feeble on Baptism. But on every other point he defends.-And he goads on "Amicus" till he has confessed all…the system of the Friends. It is the fullest disclosure which we have in the modern times of the Society; it is a full length portrait of the genuine Quakerism of the Old School. And if the Society adheres to the testimony of their ancient elders, they must acknowledge the doctrines of "Amicus" as their orthodox doctrines. To blame these would be to blame the inspirations of Fox and Penn; to condemn these would be to condemn all the Friends of the First "Convincement." See Brownlee's "Careful and Free inquiry into the Religious Principles of Friends," Philadelphia 1824. Doherty's book on the Hicksite separation cites this work as a classic.

Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book evaluates and critiques the Society of Friends, known as Quakers, and the author's viewpoint on the interaction between Quakers and other denominations at the time of writing. The author highlights key differences and similarities between Quaker practices and those of other C…hristian denominations, particularly with respect to outward religious expression. The author argues that in many cases, the Quakers' practices and beliefs were consistent with the teachings of Christ and the scriptures, while the practices of other Christian denominations deviated from these teachings. The book delves into the historical context of the Quakers and sheds light on the reasons behind their opposition to certain practices common among other Christian denominations. Ultimately, this book offers a critique of the Society of Friends while also recognizing the value and truth in their teachings and practices. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
