In a career that has now spanned four decades, he generated a series of sharply memorable images, from his groundbreaking Washington Crossing the Delaware, a pre-Pop Art revival, done tongue in cheek, of popular American history to his current three-dimensional painted constructions in foam-core which comment incisively on his personal life and public myths."
