In it, he lays out a methodical path to spiritual development, claiming that individuals can gain access to "supersensible" realms through inner training. These realms, according to Steiner, are as real as the material world but can only be perceived by those who cultivate faculties such as imagination, inspiration, and intuition. His approach combined meditative exercises, moral purification, and heightened self-awareness, placing great importance on ethical conduct and reverence as prerequisites for genuine spiritual insight. The book was groundbreaking for its time, proposing that spiritual knowledge was not the exclusive domain of mystics or religious authorities, but could be developed by anyone willing to follow the prescribed disciplines. However, it was also controversial. Critics accused Steiner of promoting a kind of esoteric elitism, where only the spiritually "advanced" could access truth. Others questioned the validity of his clairvoyant claims and his insistence that the spiritual world was as objectively real as the physical. His blending of mystical insight with scientific language made his work both appealing and suspect in different intellectual circles. Rudolf Steiner himself remains a highly polarising figure. Born in 1861 in what is now Croatia, he trained in science and philosophy but turned to spiritual matters early in his career. His break with the Theosophical Society in 1913 came after he rejected their growing focus on Eastern teachings, including the declaration of Jiddu Krishnamurti as the new World Teachersomething Steiner viewed as dogmatic and ungrounded. He went on to found the Anthroposophical Society and developed his own esoteric worldview, which sought to integrate science, art, and spirituality. While celebrated by followers for his visionary contributions, many viewed his doctrines as eccentric or pseudoscientific. Steiner's influence extended far beyond the occult community. He founded the Waldorf education movement, biodynamic agriculture, and inspired initiatives in medicine and architectureall of which continue today. Yet his legacy is also shadowed by controversy. His writings contain passages on race and human evolution that have drawn significant criticism for being hierarchical and Eurocentric, even though his defenders argue these were taken out of context or misinterpreted. Steiner's mix of spiritual ambition, social experimentation, and metaphysical speculation places him in a unique but contested position in 20th-century thoughtpart visionary, part heretic, and, for many, an enduring enigma. ; 19.3 x 12.5 x 2.7 cms; 221 pages.

A Revised and Enlarged Edition of The Way of Initiation and Initiation and Its Results. Full facsimile of the original edition and not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. Rudolf Steiner developed exercises aimed at cultivating new cognitive faculties he believed would be appropriate to contemporary individual and cultural development. According to Steiner's view of history, in earlier periods people were capable of direct spiritual perceptions, or clairvoyance, but not yet of rational thought; more recently, rationality has been developed at the cost of spiritual perception, leading to the alienation characteristic of modernity. Steiner proposed that humanity now has the task of synthesizing the rational and contemplative/spiritual components of cognition, whereby spiritual perception would be awakened through intensifying thinking. He considered this relevant not only to personal development, but as a foundation for advanced scientific research.Knowledge of the Higher Worlds and its Attainment constitutes a fundamental guide to the anthroposophical path of cognition or knowledge. In human consciousness, faculties are sleeping that, if awakened, lead to life-giving wisdom. With great clarity and warmth Rudolf Steiner details the exercises and moral qualities to be cultivated on the path to a conscious experience of supersensible realities. This book, perhaps the most controversial of Steiner's extensive literary legacy, suggests the possibility of a person in the 20th century developing sufficient skills of concentration, empathy, etc. to be able to obtain first-hand knowledge of spiritual realities consciously.
