Mit eigenhändiger Widmung des Verfassers. Michael Hager (1795-1866), zu Wien, war am 14. Februar (oder März) 1795 zu Hermannstadt in Siebenbürgen geboren, wurde 1822 in Wien Doctor, 1825 k.k. Rath und Stabsfeldarzt, ord. Prof, der Chirurgie und Operationslehre an der k. med.-chirurg. Josephs - Akademie, ordentlicher Beisitzer der permanenten Feldsanitäts-Commission, Mitglied der medicinischen Facultät und der Josephs-Akademie und consultirender Arzt bei der k. k. ungarischen adeligen Leibgarde Von seinen zahlreichen, auf dem Gebiete der Chirurgie verfassten Schriften, die keine grosse Bedeutung haben, aber dennoch die von dem Verfasser gemachten Erfahrungen verwerthen, führen wir an: " Ueber die Erhaltung der Augen und den zweckmässigen Gebrauch der Brillen" (Wien 1823) - "Die chirurgischen Operationen" (Ebenda 1831, mit 4 Kpft.) - "Die Brüche und Vorfälle, beschrieben und durch Beispiele erläutert" (1834) - "Die Entzündungen u. s. w." (1842, mit 1 Taf) ____ "Die allgemeine Pathologie und Therapie in Uebereinstimmung abgehandelt und durch Beispiele erläutert" (1843) - "Die fremden Körper im Menschen u. s. w" (1844) - "Die Entzündungen und Eiterungen am menschlichen Körper u. s. w." (2 Bde., 1846). Bis 1848, in welchem Jahre die Josephs-Akademie aufgelöst wurde, hielt er in derselben Vorlesungen über Chirurgie und chirurgische Klinik. Er schrieb darauf noch: "Die Anzeigen zu Amputationen, Exarticulationen, Resektionen und Trepanationen, die Nervenkrankheiten und die Auswüchse am menschlichen Körper u. s. w." (1849).
