Alfred Werner thanks the American Artist magazine critic Fridolf Johnson, "for a perceptive and most generous review". Signed in full "Alfred Werner". Postmarked from New York over several Andrew Jackson postage stamps. Near fine. The art critic and author Alfred Werner (1911-1979) came to the United States in 1940 after being imprisoned at Dachau. He wrote on European intellectual matters and authored several biographies of artists including Chagall, Modigliani, Pascin, Max Weber, Munch, and others.
