    Hardcover. Condition: Good. THERE ARE NO TARIFFS OR CUSTOMS DUTIES ON BOOKS. First edition hardcover in price clipped dust jacket. Good/Fair. Original green cloth with spine lettered in gilt, now dulled.The cloth is faded around the corners and edges of the book, corresponding to some chips in the jacket, and the boards are very slightly bowed. There is some spotting around the edges of the text block, and some offsetting to endpapers; there is also a gift inscription (not from the author) on the ffep, but there are no markings in the text. The jacket is in fair condition only - rubbed, bumped, chipped and torn (along and across the spine), and with small loss of text on the rear panel from where a label has been removed. The jacket is now in a removable protective cover.196 pages, including index. Size 20.7 x 14 x 2.1 cm. Black & white illustrations. The picture is of the actual book for sale.

Original publisher's green cloth - gilt embossed to the spine. No inscriptions. A frontispiece of James Braid and 3 other illustrative plates - all as called for. Upper edge dyed brown as it should be. Some fading to the extreme head and tail of the spine - particularly where the jacket is missing and some fading to the head of the front board. The jacket has not been price-clipped - it is chipped at the tail with some loss of the letters of 'Stoughton'. Some sellotape ghosting to the tail of the spine. Several short tears and nicks have been expertly repaired. No inscriptions. A very good, clean, tight copy in like jacket.
