P. Lovecraft. Derleth founded Arkham House Press the year after this publication. This is a presentation copy to an unknown recipient and includes a typed compliment slip, in an excellent state, with both the original dust jacket and promotional wraparound intact.

First Edition. HAWK ON THE WIND, Ritten House, 1938, first edition, some browning to the gutters between the end-papers and paste-downs due to the chemical reaction between glue and paper, off-setting to the paste-downs, some faint spotting to the covers, else a vg+/near fine copy in home made slip-case incorporating the dust-wrapper spine. Inscribed by the author with a line from the book. Accompanied by a 225 TYPED LETTER SIGNED on the authors personal stationery thanking the recipient for her kind words concerning this book, mentioning that his next book of poetry, MAN TRACK HERE, should see print in 1939 (which it did), that other writers such as Edgar Lee masters, Padraic Colum and Theodore Dreiser have liked this volume as well and that he welcomes any slip-cases that the recipient may wish to send. Envelope included.
