It is a collection of short stories following the characters of Beau Geste, his brothers, and their comrades in the French Foreign Legion. Stories featured include, 'What's in a Name', and, 'The Devil and Digby Geste'. Percival Christopher Wren was an English adventure fiction writer. He is best known for his novel, 'Beau Geste', set in North Africa during the period before the First World War. The work had been adapted numerous times for film and radio, including the 1939 film starring Gary Cooper, and the 1966 film starring Guy Stockwell. With four pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear of the book, and the publisher's advertising pamphlet inserted into the novel. The half title page is present. In the publisher's original, full cloth binding. Externally, excellent with little shelf wear. Fading to the spine. Some offsetting to the free endpapers. Author's signed bookplate to the front paste-down. The original, unclipped dust wrapper is in very smart condition. Some shelf wear to the edges and spine. Spine is slightly darkened.
