Although Strauss and his original team incorporated Ellis (d. 1949), Strauss managed to shunt Ellis aside in November, 1931 after several delays, and forced him into retirement and long stretches of unemployment, even though he continued work unpaid on the calculations and structure of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Quarto (11 1/16 x 8 11/16 inches; 281 x 220 millimeters). 246 numbered pages, with a multitude of fold-out architectural schematic plates afterward. Condition: Very Good+, in a Good dust jacket. Book is beautiful, a touch of rubbing at the bottom of the boards. Of note: The fold-out color frontispiece has a dog-ear crease at the upper corner. Dust jacket has large pieces missing from both front and rear panels and the top and bottom of the spine. There are small stains, prominent tears, creases, and interior amateur tape mends. We will send in a protective archival sleeve. The accompanying 50th Anniversary Edition (1987) is Near Fine, in a Very Good- dust jacket. Dust jacket is generally worn with chips, scuffs, abrasions, and a tear at the bottom left of the front panel with an amateur tape mend upon the exterior.
