Item description from seller

:: The original 1938 Edition (of the September 1937 report), paired with the 50th Anniversary Edition. :: Numbered 3888 :: Personalized inscription on frontispiece introductory page from James Adam, General Manager of the Golden Gate Bridge. :: Fold-out color frontispiece reproduction of a painting of the Golden Gate Bridge. :: Full of a multitude of stunning black & white photographs. :: :: The Golden Gate Bridge, one of the most significant landmarks of our time, opened on May 28th, 1937. On September 30th of that year Joseph Strauss, Chief Engineer of the Bridge, submitted his final report to the Board of Directors of the Golden Gate Bridge and Highway District - a complete document, describing the entire process of the Bridge project from initial planning and design phases to the final construction. :: Bound in publisher's russet (International Orange) colored cloth, front board bears in white the title and a line illustration of a view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Title lettered in white down the spine above a petite figure of the bridge. Quarto (11 1/16 x 8 11/16 inches; 281 x 220 millimeters). 246 numbered pages, with a multitude of fold-out architectural schematic plates afterward. Condition: Very Good+, in a Good dust jacket. Book is beautiful, a touch of rubbing at the bottom of the boards. Of note: The fold-out color frontispiece has a dog-ear crease at the upper corner. Dust jacket has large pieces missing from both front and rear panels and the top and bottom of the spine. There are small stains, prominent tears, creases, and interior amateur tape mends. We will send in a protective archival sleeve. The accompanying 50th Anniversary Edition (1987) is Near Fine, in a Very Good- dust jacket. Dust jacket is generally worn with chips, scuffs, abrasions, and a tear at the bottom left of the front panel with an amateur tape mend upon the exterior.
