Tan cloth, hardback book, with gilt title impressions running across the top half of the spine, set in blocked dark red box and a wonderful design on front board. No jacket, box, slipcase. The book is in really good condition, normal wear and marks apply consistent with use and age. A few marks on the spine cover, a couple of marks on side edge of papers. 413 pages, all intact, good strong, tight binding, all pages, maps, text and illustrations are in good, clean, readable order. Pages 39-44 inclusive have had their top corners clipped, which is such a shame, I will photograph, so please do look at photos, thx. First published by The Folio Society in 1985, this specific edition is a reprint 1989. Photoset in 11 point Baskerville, spaced one point, by Latimer Trend & Company Ltd, Plymouth. Printed by The Bath Press, Avon, on Elan Cream Wove Paper, and bound by The Bath Press in Ernstmeir Bucheinband Cloth, blocked with a decorative motif. Another wonderful book from The Folio Society.

Green slipcase with the Folio Society monogram in gilt. The volumes are all clean and tight with no ownership marks. Pages are clean and crisp. Very slightly sunning to spine, more noticeable on the darker colours. The Return of the Native and Far from the Madding Crowd has some slight scratches to the printed labels on their spines. Else very neat set. slipcase has a some minor scuffs and is slightly and unevenly faded. Very good set in good+ slipcase Very good set in good+ slipcase.

Mixed printings published in 1991 & 1997, eight volume hardcover set with six books sharing a slipcase, and two books individually slipcased. All of the books have has a minor skew to their binding, sunning to their spine, and slight bumps to their spine ends, while a few volumes also have a bit of rubbing or scuffing to the titling on their spine. Additionally, Under the Greenwood Tree has light bumps to its cover corners, and The Trumpet-Major & The Mayor of Casterbridge have a touch of soiling to the top edge of their text block. Overall, this is a solid, bright and tight, Very Good+ set in Very Good slipcases, which all have rubbing to their panels, as well as some shelf wear along their edges, while the large slipcase has scuffing to the edges of its top panel, bumps to the corners, and a split starting at the lower rear seam.
