Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This captivating collection of verse by two contemporaries explores the themes of love, loss, and the human condition. The poems are technically precise and thematically insightful, engaging the reader with a blend of joy and sorrow throughout. Some are lyrical and playful, while other…s are more reflective and philosophical. The selections in this book explore emotion, from the joy and beauty of love to the helplessness of loss and the brutality of human cruelty. The authors, who lived during tumultuous historical periods, touch on topics that encompass the American Civil War, the brutal practice of slavery, and the struggles of women during the Victorian era. This exploration, however, is never didactic, instead focusing on the emotional impact of these large-scale events on individuals, offering glimpses of the human condition that are timeless in their relevance. These poems express the full range of human emotion, and challenge readers to reflect on their own experiences of love, loss, and identity. They are sure to resonate with readers long after they finish the last page. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

A 24-page directory with member names and addresses, plus a postcard-sized membership renewal notice, both probably circa the 1960s. The Burroughs Bibliophiles was organized 5 September 1960 at the Eighteenth World Science Fiction Convention. By the mid 1960s there were around 600 Burroughs bibliophiles, surely the largest SF fa…n group at the time. The directory has some penciled additions and tics against member's names; the renewal notice is wrinkled and tanned and has a glue mark on the blank verso. (#178647).

ABOUT THE PUBLISHER The American Tract Society (ATS) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian but evangelical organization founded on May 11, 1825, in New York City for the purpose of publishing and disseminating tracts of Christian literature. ATS traces its lineage back through the New York Tract Society (1812) and the New England Tract Society (1814) to the Religious Tract Society of London, begun in 1799. Over the years, ATS has produced and distributed many millions of pieces of literature. Before ATS was founded, the Bible was the only religious book being distributed widely around the United States. The American Tract Society's founders felt that the American Bible Society was limited in its activities, leading to ATS's establishment. The ATS is still in operation and going strong. Through its international division (International Tract Society) ATS has approximately 136 print partners in 70 countries who print and distribute tracts in over 100 languages.
