Through vivid storytelling and B&W photographs, the author recounts their triumphs in connecting remote regionslike the Gary Highway to Gary Junction and beyondencountering Indigenous communities untouched by modern roads, and rediscovering historic wells along the Canning Stock Route. It's a tale of rugged endurance, technical ingenuity, and the spirit of adventure as these final highways stitch the Western deserts into Australia's road network.
