Add to basketFirst Edition. Signed and inscribed by the author, Philip Jose Farmer, to John Calley, President of Warner Pictures. Inscribed: ÒTo John Calley, Apocalyptic Leader of the 86th Floor HQ of Warners, from Philip Jose Farmer.Ó The 86th floor remark in the inscription is a humorous homage reference to Doc SavageÕs office on the 86th floor of the most imposing skyscraper in mid-town Manhattan in New York city. Fine in a fine dust jacket. Calley greenlighted George PalÕs 1975 film Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze film and he and Pal hired Farmer to write a sequel. Farmer wrote a film treatment but the failure of the first Doc Savage movie at the box office doomed the second film. During CalleyÕs tenure at Warners he was involved in the production of such films as Dirty Harry, A Clockwork Orange, McCabe And Mrs. Miller, Deliverance, Enter The Dragon, Mean Streets, The Exorcist, Blazing Saddles, The Towering Inferno, Dog Day Afternoon, Superman, and Chariots of Fire.
