Inscribed: �To John Calley, Apocalyptic Leader of the 86th Floor HQ of Warners, from Philip Jose Farmer.� The 86th floor remark in the inscription is a humorous homage reference to Doc Savage�s office on the 86th floor of the most imposing skyscraper in mid-town Manhattan in New York city. Fine in a fine dust jacket. Calley greenlighted George Pal�s 1975 film Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze film and he and Pal hired Farmer to write a sequel. Farmer wrote a film treatment but the failure of the first Doc Savage movie at the box office doomed the second film. During Calley�s tenure at Warners he was involved in the production of such films as Dirty Harry, A Clockwork Orange, McCabe And Mrs. Miller, Deliverance, Enter The Dragon, Mean Streets, The Exorcist, Blazing Saddles, The Towering Inferno, Dog Day Afternoon, Superman, and Chariots of Fire.
