Après avoir traité des divinations en général, Peucer examine en détail et analyse, avec de nombreux exemples tirés de l'Histoire, les oracles, la théomancie, la magie, les enchantements et la sorcellerie, la hiéroscopie, les augures et les aruspices, la divination par les sorts, l'oneiropolie ou divination par les songes, les présages des médecins, la météorologie, la physiologie (physiognomonie, chiromancie etc.), l'astrologie et la tératoscopie. Il existe une autre émission de la même édition à l'adresse de Barthélemy Honorat (Lyon, 1584),dont seuls les cahiers liminaires présentent des différences. ces deux émissions ont été imprimées à Genève, par Jacques Chouët d'après Gilmont. Il est à noter que Heudrick Connix est un non inventé, car il n'existe aucun libraire de ce nom à Anvers à cette époque. Exemplaire relié aux armes de Louis-Urbain Le Fevre de Caumartin, marquis de Saint-Ange (1653-1720), conseiller d'Etat et intendant des Finances sous Louis XIV. Très lié avec les hommes de lettres de son temps, il avait rassemblé une bibliothèque remarquable tant par le choix des ouvrages que par la beauté des reliures.
