Hardcover. Condition: Good+. First Edition. 8vo 8" - 9" tall; Inscribed and signed by Holmes on the front endpage. Soundly bound in original thatched green paper covered boards with title lettering in gilt to spine. Light to moderate shelf rub to the boards over the rear spine edge and base of spine with mild fray to the binding material at the bottom spine. Prior owner has pasted the bold color illustrated portion of the jacket's front panel to the pastedown with some offset toning from the glue used in the application. Sound 1st edition uncommon thus and more so with the author's signature. A bit worn and lacking dust jacket -- G+; Signed by Author.
