Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. This VG quality format #3 book was published in 1942 by Saalfield Publishing. It is 8-1/8" tall and has 248 numbered pages followed by an unnumbered page advertising the next book in this series. It is square, very clean, with the top front corner lightly bumped and a thin red streak running up the front board near the fore edge; the head and heel of the spine are very lightly bumped, with no binding damage. The exterior looks very good--no other damage or staining. Except for a bookstore sticker on the front paste down, the interior is completely free of writing, stray marks, stains of any sort and page damage of any type. Both hinges are strong even though the paper is cracked over the front hinge. There are no illustrations, not even a frontis, in this book. The paper is moderately toned, but not at all brittle and still quite flexible. The VG quality jacket is slightly soiled and the spine is not faded; it has tiny chips at both top corners as well as at the head and heel of the spine.

This 5.0 x 7.375 inch, 248 page hardcover book with dust wrapper is a 1942 edition of this book by Crown Publishers and apparently a first printing of this title. This book is in fine condition with just the slightest touch of shelf wear to the bottom two corners but beyond that the book itself is in beautiful condition for its age, with the soft textured brick-red cloth covers with black lettering on the spine all in fine condition. The text pages show only a small previous owner?s sticker applied to the ffep and the sticker has been removed, leaving just a trace of the sticker behind. Beyond that the book shows no real damage or wear. The jacket is in very good condition with some definite edge-wear and just a few small chips missing at the folds. The jacket lists the other titles in the Dave Dawson series with a full panel ?A Message from Dave Dawson? on the back panel encouraging the purchase of war bonds. The back flap of the jacket describes the series as ?The Exciting and True-to-Fact adventures in the present war of the 17 year old American Dave Dawson and his 16 year old English friend Freddy Farmer.? The flap lists 12 additional Dave Dawson titles and the final unnumbered page at the rear of the text advertises ?Dave Dawson on the Russian Front.? 248 pages.
