Internally faintly tanned and patchy endpapers, contents about as new, no owner's marks. Comprises 3 essays, The Darwinian Theory, The Origin of Man, Monkeys Apes Men, published in 1884, 1884, 1885. This volume the first to collect them. Oddly, although the first page tells us that Origin of Man is the sequel to Darwinian Theory, it is placed first in the book. Aveling with a background in Comparative Anatomy was an enthusiastic Darwinist, and freethinker, and after becoming Eleanor Marx's partner, was involved with the inner circle of British Socialism. 160g. Extremely scarce. (Biology, Evolution, Darwin) Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
