Personal account of the exploits of explorer-archaeologist Frederick Albert Mitchell-Hedges, reputed to be one of the inspirations for the Indiana Jones character in the series of Steven Spielberg films. Included with the book is a two page typed letter, signed by the author. Addressed to his niece, Edith Pellett, the letter gives details of Mitchell-Hedges relatives, his writings, and estates at Buffgate Manor and Canterton Manor. Overall condition is Very Good Minus. Size: 6 x 9 inches (15 x 23 cm). Signed by Author.

Contains B&W photographic plates, all present. Please note: jacket very stained. An English explorer who claimed to have 'discovered' a crystal skull, Mitchell-Hedges is said… to have inspired the character of Indiana Jones. Pages have moderate foxing, tanning and minor thumbing. Slight gutter cracking. Binding is firm. Endpapers have strips of tanning caused by jacket. Slight liquid stains to pastedowns and text block edges. Boards have some moderate edge wear, with slight bumping to corners and minor bumping to spine ends. A little rubbed and marked overall. Boards are slightly bowed. Gilt is bright. Unclipped jacket (priced 18s. net) has some edgewear with chips, tears and creasing. Heavy water staining, most visible on rear panel and underside. Rear panel also very foxed.
