Soft cover. Condition: Good. J. & C. Walker (John and Charles Walker), (illustrator). This is a finely engraved map by J. & C. Walker (John and Charles Walker), who served as the official engravers for the SDUK and the British Admiralty. Their precise line-work set the benchmark for commercial cartography during the Victorian era. The map shows the borders of the ancient English counties?such as Cumberland, Westmorland, Yorkshire, and Lancashire?prior to the landmark administrative boundary reforms of 1844 As it was printed at the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, the map labels newer infrastructure projects of the period, including canals, turnpike roads, and early railway lines. The map measures 16 inches by 13 inches approx. and folds down to 6.5 inches by 4 inches approx. Some surface wear to marbled paper covers else in good general condition This is a lighter item, overseas shipping costs will be reduced at checkout where possible.
