GROSSET & DUNLAP reprint hardcover, sewn-bound in decorative red cloth (with silhouette of Corporal Cameron on front cover), is in FAIR condition, having a slight slant to spine, corners bumped and worn, some staining to back cover (see photo); overall rubbing/scuffing to covers and spine; in first endpaper section there is fountain-ink writing of former owner "Agnes," with date "July 22, 1917", along with a more recent name "Hathaway" and date 1972 written in ink above---also former bookseller has written in pencil (on first free endpaper) what looks like a long ago price, and some sort of classification number; there is some slight shaking to volume noticeable between the title-page and the proceeding page. Dates for Grosset & Dunlap reprints are sometimes hard to determine, as they usually carried the copyright of the original American publisher (here it was George H. Doran, in 1912).
