Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. A.S. Barnes and Co., New York. 1943. Hardcover. Book is tight, square and unmarked but for previous owner name marked out on front paste down. Book Condition: VG+; wear to bottom boards from shelving. No DJ. Red boards and spine with gold lettering on spine and on front board with character drawing of Chico in uniform. 403 pp. This book was put together because there was still missing a book on the unimportant people who fight the wars and who the experts ignore. This book is a picture of places, people, armies and wars between 1933 and 1943; and the man who sees these wars and draws the pictures of the soldiers is Chico. A wonderful piece of non-fiction work on WWII.

First Edition. Octavo, original red cloth over boards, gilt and black stamped lettering and design on front cover and spine, deckled edge, color decorated dust jacket, black and white illustrations throughout. Non-fiction book presented as a series of journals and vignettes from the point of view of Chico, an invention of some war correspondents from 19331943 whose byline was used when a story was too hot for the likes of the Associated Press; focus is on the 'little people,' those in the background, whose daily lives are affected by these wars. Very good in very good dust jacket, binding partially unglued but holding, dust jacket time toned, small area of front cover and spine of dust jacket lightly spattered with some kind of white paint, light shelf wear.
