First Edition
Hard Cover. Condition: Near Fine. No Jacket. Revised Edition, 2nd Printing. Text/As New. Illustrated light blue linen boards/NF, showing trace discoloration. DJ/None. First published in 1961, and Revised in 1970; this copy is the 1972 reprint of the Revised Edition. A marvellously engaging book about cats that is neither a textbook with technical information nor a general care book, though it contains bits of both. Its success lies in the stated purpose of being written to "entertain by word and picture". This it does very well through inclusion of poetry, art work, and literature & drama that celebrate this enigmatic creature. There is an engaging photo of Tobias, a tabby with very handsome feet, who prefers to drink from a glass through a straw!.
