A collection of 11 religious and spiritual tracts reflecting on various topics, with a piece on temperance by Reverend Austin Dickinson: 'Appeal to American Youth on Temperance." GOOD condition. Some soiling and minor staining scattered throughout the piece, with edges curled, a bit creased and with a few chips and tears. Owner's signature present on several pages throughout. The scarce Dummler catalogue includes entries, with brief prospectuses, for 34 titles, by Grimm, Bopp, Von Humboldt, Steinthal and other notable German philologists; a similar Auszug of linguistic works published by Dummler (caption title, 8 pp., c. 1858) is present between pamphlets 5 and 6. Full Leather. Condition: Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. Four pamphlets bound together as a single volume. Half brown leather over corners and spine, and marbled paper over boards. Leather spine label with gilt lettering simply reading "Pamphlets." Pamphlets range from circa 1860s to 1890s. Later binding, circa mid-20th century. Covers are a little faded over spine and show light rubbing. Contents are in good condition, though show a little scattered light foxing and other very light general wear. Volume remains tight.
