Hardcover w/ Jacket. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. This 9.25 x 12.25 inch, 222 page hardcover book with dust wrapper is the 1954 edition of this title by The Studio Publications, Inc. and issued by Outdoor Life. This book is in near fine condition with just a touch of of time wear showing to the spine extremities and book edges, and with the interior text showing only a touch of use, with no markings to be seen. The dust wrapper is only in good condition with extensive wear at the folds and edges with several pieces of the wrapper missing, especially at the spine top and bottom - - where two, two-inch pieces of the jacket are gone. Someone attempted to stabilizes the jacket with tape in the past on the inside of the jacket and the tape has now yellowed but is still in place on the inside of the jacket. The book features a thorough summary of the life work of John James Audubon, including his epic work with the birds of North America and then this - - his second major project - - the North American Quadrupeds. This work was finished after Audubon?s death by his sons and here is presented with full-page plates - - some in color - - and with extensive notations by Audubon, Audubon?s keen observation and wonderful art work have stood the test of time and leave his early work still as a monument in American natural science. 222 pages.
