Add to basketFirst edition, presentation copy to Aida Borchgrevink, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "Ai, from R, with love, August 1952". Five hundred copies of the book were printed. Aida Borchgrevink (née Ada Starr) was described by John Furness as "an ebullient, romantic woman" who "sang Wagner at the top of her voice…while she drove" (Furbank, p. 25). She was a close friend of E. M. Forster (she reputedly insisted on calling Forster "Rickie"), and it is through Forster that she is likely to have met Trevelyan. P. N. Furbank, E. M. Forster, 1981. Tall octavo. Original green card wrappers, titles to spine in dark green. With dust jacket. Light spotting to endpapers; jacket lightly spotted with rubbing to extremities and tanning to spine, but not faded to blue as usual. A very good copy in very good jacket.
