Paperback. Condition: Very Good. "Mark Steyn is a human sandblaster. This book provides a powerful, abrasive, high-velocity assault on encrusted layers of sugarcoating and whitewash over the threat of Islamic imperialism. Do we in the West have the will to prevail?" - MICHELLE MALKIN, New York Times bestselling author of Unhinged "Mark Steyn is the funniest writer now living. But don't be distracted by the brilliance of his jokes. They are the neon lights advertising a profound and sad insight: America is almost alone in resisting both the suicide of the West and the suicide bombing of radical Islamism." - JOHN O'SULLIVAN, editor at large, National Review IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT. Someday soon, you might wake up to the call to prayer from a muezzin. Europeans already are. And liberals will still tell you that "diversity is our strength"--while Talibanic enforcers cruise Greenwich Village burning books and barber shops, the Supreme Court decides sharia law doesn't violate the "separation of church and state," and the Hollywood Left decides to give up on gay rights in favor of the much safer charms of polygamy. If you think this can't happen, you haven't been paying attention, as the hilarious, provocative, and brilliant Mark Steyn--the most popular conservative columnist in the English-speaking world--shows to devastating effect. The future, as Steyn shows, belongs to the fecund and the confident. And the Islamists are both, while the West is looking ever more like the ruins of a civilization. But America can survive, prosper, and defend its freedom only if it continues to believe in itself, in the sturdier virtues of self-reliance (not government), in the centrality of family, and in the conviction that our country really is the world's last best hope. Mark Steyn's America Alone is laugh-out-loud funny--but it will also change the way you look at the world. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Paperback. Condition: Very Good. A New York Times Bestseller! From the author of the #1 New York Times bestsellers The Amateur and Blood Feud . . . Unlikeable is the stunning, powerful expose of Hillary Clinton and her floundering race for the White House. With unprecedented access to longtime associates of the Clintons and the Obamas, investigative reporter Edward Klein meticulously recreates conversations and details of Hillary Clinton's behind-the-scenes plotting in Chappaqua and Whitehaven. Klein, the former editor in chief of New York Times Magazine and a contributing editor to Vanity Fair, draws a deeply troubling portrait of Hillary Rodham Clinton, a highly unlikeable presidential candidate and a woman more associated with scandal than with accomplishments, with lying than with truth, with arrogance than with compassion. Paperback. Condition: Very Good. "If the globe is warming, is mankind responsible, or is the sun?" Such a statement does not appear out of place in Bethell's entertaining account of how modern science is politically motivated and in desperate need of oversight. Bethell writes in a compulsively readable style, and although he provides legitimate insight into the potential benefits of nuclear power and hormesis, some readers will be turned off when he attempts to disprove global warming and especially evolution. Throughout the book, Bethell makes questionable claims about subjects as varied as AIDS ("careful U.S. studies had already shown that at least a thousand sexual contacts are needed to achieve heterosexual transmission of the virus") and extinction ("It is not possible definitely to attribute any given extinction to human activity"), and backs up his arguments with references to the music magazine SPIN and thriller-writer Michael Crichton. Ironically, Bethell ends up proving his own premise by producing a highly politicized account of how liberal intellectuals and unchecked government agencies have created a "white-coated priesthood" whose lust for grant money has driven them to produce fearsome (but in Bethell's view, false) tales of ozone destruction and AIDS pandemics. In the end, this book is unlikely to sway readers who aren't already in Bethell's ideological camp, as any points worthy of discussion get lost in the glut of unsourced claims that populate this latest installment of "The Politically Incorrect Guide" series. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Paperback. Condition: Very Good. In the beginning, the Bible triggered a revolution in human thought and later established Western civilization's moral and philosophical foundation. Many people though--from authors to pundits--mock it for their own purposes and political agendas. However, the Bible remains the bestselling book of all time, believed by nearly two billion people (Christians and Jews) to be divinely inspired. In his hard-hitting new book, The Politically Incorrect Guide to The Bible, author Robert J. Hutchinson details the facts behind the numerous truths the anti-religious secularists don't want you to know about, including: *Recent archaeological discoveries confirm the historical accuracy of many Bible stories *The Bible made modern science possible (which is why it started in the Middle Ages) *Biblical laws paved the way for democracy and limited government *The Bible promotes human freedom *The enemies of the Bible are enemies of true reason and tolerance In this new installment in the bestselling P.I.G. series, Hutchinson silences the secularists and atheists with historical evidence, undeniable facts, and insightful revelations--proving why the Bible is still the bestselling book of all time--and so much more. Paperback. Condition: Very Good. The rise, fall, and rebirth of Richard Nixon is perhaps the most fascinating story in American politics. Presidential chronicles and other outside sources have tried to capture it in full, but Nixon: A Life is the first to succeed. Nixon: A Life is the first entirely objective biography of Richard Nixon. Jonathan Aitken, who, in addition to serving in Parliament, serves as Her Majesty's Minister of State for Defense, conducted over sixty hours of interviews with Nixon and was granted unprecedented access to thousands of pages of Nixon's previously sealed private documents. The results of Aitken's interviews and research shed new light on a presidency that is just now beginning to be understood by serious students of history. Among the questions Aitken answers with fresh insight are: . Why didn't Nixon burn the Watergate tapes? How did he achieve his astonishing comebacks after being defeated by Kennedy in 1960 and resigning from the presidency in 1974? What were his relationships with political figures such as Dwight Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, Henry Kissinger, and personal friends such as Bebe Rebozo and Robert Abplanalp? What caused him to overcome his doubts and pursue the Alger Hiss spy case in Congress? What are Nixon's innermost spiritual beliefs and intellectual influences? What drives him now? Previously published in Great Britain to rave reviews, Nixon: A Life is the first Nixon biography written by a non-American author. Aitken's refreshingly unencumbered positions on Watergate and Vietnam provide a unique perspective on Nixon's life and his presidency. Nixon: A Life breaks important new ground as a major work of political biography. It is a work that will inspire historiansto recognize the outstanding diplomatic achievements of a man whose journey from tainted politician to respected foreign policy expert and elder statesman has been nothing short of remarkable. Paperback. Condition: Very Good. AFINANCIAL TIMESBOOK OF THE MONTH FROM THE WALL STREET JOURNAL:"Nothing Mr. Gilder says or writes is ever delivered at anything less than the fullest philosophical decibel.Mr. Gilder sounds less like a tech guru than a poet, and his words tumble out in a romantic cascade." Googles algorithms assume the worlds future is nothing more than the next moment in a random process. George Gilder shows how deep this assumption goes, what motivates people to make it, and why its wrong: the future depends on human action. Peter Thiel, founder of PayPal and Palantir Technologies and author of Zero to One: Notes on Startups, or How to Build the Future The Age of Google, built on big data and machine intelligence, has been an awesome era. But its coming to an end. In Life after Google, George Gilderthe peerless visionary of technology and cultureexplains why Silicon Valley is suffering a nervous breakdown and what to expect as the post-Google age dawns. Googles astonishing ability to search and sort attracts the entire world to its search engine and countless other goodiesvideos, maps, email, calendars. And everything it offers is free, or so it seems. Instead of paying directly, users submit to advertising. The system of aggregate and advertise worksfor a whileif you control an empire of data centers, but a market without prices strangles entrepreneurship and turns the Internet into a wasteland of ads. The crisis is not just economic. Even as advances in artificial intelligence induce delusions of omnipotence and transcendence, Silicon Valley has pretty much given up on security. The Internet firewalls supposedly protecting all those passwords and personal information have proved hopelessly permeable. The crisis cannot be solved within the current computer and network architecture. The future lies with the cryptocosmthe new architecture of the blockchain and its derivatives. Enabling cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin and ether, NEO and Hashgraph, it will provide the Internet a secure global payments system, ending the aggregate-and-advertise Age of Google. Silicon Valley, long dominated by a few giants, faces a great unbundling, which will disperse computer power and commerce and transform the economy and the Internet. Life after Google is almost here. For fans of "Wealth and Poverty," "Knowledge and Power," and "The Scandal of Money.". The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Will Rogers once said that the problem in America isnt so much what people dont know; the problem is what people think they know that just aint so. Professor Thomas E. Woods Most Americans trust that their history professors and high school teachers will give students honest and accurate information. In a shocking new book,The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History, historianProfessor Thomas E. Woods, Jr.makes it quite clear that liberal professors have misinformed our children for generations. Woodstakes on the most controversial moments of American history and exposes how history books are merely a series of cliches drafted by academics who are heavily biased against God, democracy, patriotism, capitalism and most American family values. Woods takes aim at the high school and college textbooks that promote morally neutral, politically correct, multi-cultural distortions of our nations past and provides the real history of our countrys origins, founders, principles, successes, and failures. Woods reveals the truth behind gross misinterpretations including: MYTH:The First Amendment prohibits school prayer FACT: When federal courts strike down religious expression in the states, they are willfully perverting the policy of what the Framers of the First Amendment intended:complete federal nonintervention in religious issues MYTH:The New Deal created great prosperity FACT:Public-sector jobs created by New Deal spending programs either simply displaced or actually destroyed private-sector jobs. MYTH:What the Supreme Court says, goes FACT:Neither Thomas Jefferson nor the drafters of the Constitution envisioned the power the federal courts routinely exercise over the states and the people. From the real American revolutionaries to the reality of labor unions,The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History,is all you need for the truth about Americaobjective and unvarnished. Paperback. Condition: Very Good. Few stories can be as dramatic as that of the 1999 Miss America, Nicole Johnson. At the age of 19, she was rushed into the ER of a hospital, her body in shock, apparently close to death from unknown causes. The doctors discovered that Nicole had diabetes. That's not the end of the story. Nicole Johnson went on to win the Miss Virginia pageant, and then the Miss America pageant, and to become the most powerful spokeswoman in America for the early detection and treatment of diabetes. Nicole Johnson -- whose diabetes requires her to wear an insulin pump, and to do eight finger-stick tests a day to monitor her blood sugar levels -- is stunning proof that diabetes doesn't have to destroy lives. With proper diet, exercise, medicine, and attitude, it is possible to make diabetes an inconvenience rather than a tragedy. Here is a moving story of personal triumph -- and a prescription for how to tame a disease that afflicts millions and is doubling among children. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. Legendary economist, investor, tech philosopher, and public treasure George Gilder argues that a hard-driving culture of entrepreneurial ideas is now in conflict with a growing mindset of government regulation combined with a total surrender of the individual imagination. The winner of this battle may determine a new paradigm of economics and thought for the next century, whether we like it or not.Ronald Reagans most-quoted living authorGeorge Gilderis back with an all-new paradigm-shifting theory of capitalism that will upturn conventional wisdom. Gilder breaks away from the supply-side model of economics to present a new economic paradigm: the epic conflict between the knowledge of entrepreneurs on one side, and the blunt power of government on the other. The knowledge of entrepreneurs, and their freedom to share and use that knowledge, are the sparks that light up the economy and set its gears in motion. The power of government to regulate, stifle, manipulate, subsidize or suppress knowledge and ideas is the inertia that slows those gears down, or keeps them from turning at all. One of the twentieth centurys defining economic minds has returned with a new philosophy to carry us into the twenty-first. Knowledge and Power is a must-read for fiscal conservatives, business owners, CEOs, investors, and anyone interested in propelling Americas economy to future success. Paperback. Condition: new. Paperback. NAMED ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF 2021: POLITICS BY THE WALL STREET JOURNAL "A must-read for anyone interested in the Supreme Court."MIKE LEE, Republican senator from Utah Politics have always intruded on Supreme Court appointments. But although the Framers would recognize the way justices are nominated and confirmed today, something is different. Why have appointments to the high court become one of the most explosive features of our system of government? As Ilya Shapiro makes clear in Supreme Disorder, this problem is part of a larger phenomenon. As government has grown, its laws reaching even further into our lives, the courts that interpret those laws have become enormously powerful. If we fight over each new appointment as though everything were at stake, its because it is. When decades of constitutional corruption have left us subject to an all-powerful tribunal, passions are sure to flare on the infrequent occasions when the political system has an opportunity to shape it. And so we find the process of judicial appointments verging on dysfunction. Shapiro weighs the many proposals for reform, from the modest (term limits) to the radical (court-packing), but shows that there can be no quick fix for a judicial system suffering a crisis of legitimacy. And in the end, the only measure of the Courts legitimacy that matters is the extent to which it maintains, or rebalances, our constitutional order. Catholic"Like his translation, Pakaluk's notes do a lot to bring St. Mark and his gospel alive for us."Aleteia The Gospel as You Have Never Heard It Before. At a distance of twenty centuries, the figure of Jesus of Nazareth can seem impossibly obscureindeed, some skeptics even question whether he existed. And yet we have an eyewitness account of his life, death, and resurrection from one of his closest companions, the Simon Bar-Jona, better known as the Apostle Peter. Writers from the earliest days of the Church tell us that Peters disciple Mark wrote down the apostles account of the life of Jesus as he told it to the first Christians in Rome. The vivid, detailed, unadorned prose of the Gospel of Mark conveys the unmistakable immediacy of a first-hand account. For most readers, however, this immediacy is hidden behind a veil of Greek, the language of the New Testament writers. Four centuries of English translations have achieved nobility of cadence or, more recently, idiomatic accessibility, but the voice of Peter himself has never fully emerged. Until now. In this strikingly original translation, atten- tive to Peters concern to show what it was like to be there, Michael Pakaluk captures the tone and texture of the shermans evocative account, leading the reader to a bracing new encounter with Jesus. The accompanying verse-by-verse commentaryless theological than historicalwill equip you to experience Marks Gospel as the narrative of an eyewitness, drawing you into its scenes, where you will come to know Jesus of Nazareth with new intimacy. A stunning work of scholarship readily accessible to the layman, The Memoirs of St. Peter belongs on the bookshelf of every serious Christian.
