Paperback. Condition: Good. It only took eight years in the making, but I have finally completed my book on a variety of rapid recovery and healing techniques that I use in my counselling practice and with athletes. Many workshop attendees had asked that I put these techniques in an easy-to-follow format, with an explanation as to why certain things work the way they do. I believe I have now achieved that goal. These methods are helpful for maximising mind/body maintenance by clearing fears, phobias, addictions, obsessions, compulsions, traumas and all forms of self-sabotage. They can help optimize all aspects of our lives and open us to the fullness of life's possibilities.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. There was once an elderly woman who called Time & Temperature every day, just to hear the sound of another human voice. Did she know it was an automated recording? Maybe, but it didn't matter-so long as there was something there to lessen her loneliness. Situations like this are not new, especially in nursing homes, where people seemingly go to be forgotten-by family, by friends, and by society. What if you could do something about their loneliness? What if you could make them feel useful, loved, and respected? Frank Pawlak, a pastor and evangelist, did just that. He spent fifty years ministering to senior citizens, notably through music and the word of God. His stories are many-as are his hilarious anecdotes-but what Frank took away from his ministry was more than just entertainment. Frank Pawlak came to realize that just when you think you're blessing someone else, you turn out to be the one who is blessed. The nursing home occupants he visited taught him more than he could ever teach them; they showed him more love than he could have given. His amazing journey is chronicled in I Hear the Music-I Have to Go, as Frank lives out the adage, If you're looking for something to do with your life, help someone in need.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. This book presents, as a how-to guide, a compelling methodology for improving the operational and financial performance of a firm. The book focuses on the optimum utilization of capital assets and human resources to support the firm's business strategy and, therefore, gain a competitive advantage. It complements publications on the Balanced Scorecard by providing rather detailed sets of performance metrics applicable to Supply Chain, Customer Relationship Management, and Intellectual Capital improvement efforts. Managers involved in business improvement programs will benefit from the development of performance metrics for intellectual capital. MBA students will find especially useful the concise description of the best practices and issues affecting enterprise performance today. Reviews Finally, consideration for non-financial assets handled in a non-financial manner. A coming together of several current management concepts, along with a way to measure and evaluate their value to the company. A useful reference for building, implementing and evaluating a plan of improved efficiency. L. Sehr RA/AVP, Bank of America, San Jose, California This book provides a good overview of important financial and process redesign concepts that can influence business performance. This resource covers a broad range of ideas from continuous improvement, business strategies, balanced scorecards and value measurement tools. Non-financial persons will find this especially helpful, as information is presented in a non-technical manner, a quick read and intuitively links each idea or concept. David Bell Senior Manager, Guidant, Inc., Santa Clara, California The High Performance Enterprise is written in a very readable and concise language. The authors manage to explain in a very direct way the relationship between enterprise high performance and each of the four steps to achieving it; all this, without getting bogged down with the details on specific techniques and practices that are generally known in the industry. The discussion stays focused on the importance of metrics and simulation and their link to overall financial/accounting concepts that gauge the value of the enterprise and its performance. Because the book touches on, and gives examples of, all major functional aspects of an enterprise, I would recommend it for use in an undergraduate strategic management or capstone course in business administration program. The book would be particularly useful in an MBA course. George Guim Ed.D. Head of Business Administration Department The National Hispanic University, San Jose, California. …

Paperback. Condition: Good. Most people entering the profession of foster parenting become quickly disillusioned when they realize that parenting children is only half of their job descriptions. The other half is survival in the foster care system itself There is plenty of training available for parenting difficult children, but no one prepares foster parents for what comes along with their foster children, namely, a whole entourage known as the foster care treatment team Foster Parents require much more than parenting skills to achieve success and longevity in today's foster care world. The goal of this book is to help foster parents improve the climates where they live and work, which in turn enables them to be available for needy children for the long run. Foster care agencies experience huge turnovers in foster parents. That is because the majority of people entering this field have altruistic motives to help children succeed without possessing the knowledge they need to survive on the foster care treatment team. Foster parents most begin to see themselves as equal professional member of their children's treatment teams. Living with foster children 24 hours a day, seven days a week makes the foster parents the highest level of experts about those children. The problem is that they are not recognized as experts by the other members of the team This book will help foster parents take a more aggressive approach to educate themselves about the inner workings of the foster care system and be able to make better sense of why the other players on the team do what they do. The author's insight as an adoptive and foster parent, and also as a foster care social worker provides information to thereader from both prospective. It is a must read for all foster and adoptive parents and social workers.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. Having practiced medicine for more than 55 years, Dr. Johnstone has witnessed more than one of his patients take their last breath. But sometimes, in his mind, questions popped up. Is the persons soul in the presence of its maker? Or is the soul now suffering in the flames of hell? Or did it simply die with the body and with it will soon be encrypted, buried, or cremated? What is the soul anyway? Is it conscious? Can it feel all of the stimuli coming to it from light, sound, heat, taste, smell, and touch? If so then a soul in heaven would be able to appreciate all of the blessings of that place, but if in hell; it would be suffering in the torment of eternal flames that never consume or destroy. However, if the soul dies with the body, then it would experience nothing. The above questions are not so meaningful if the person who has just died in your presence is not a loved one. However, a loved ones death makes these questions come alive, sometimes with strong emotions not the least of which is sorrow. Dr. Johnstone experienced these feelings one summer afternoon, when he was called by his mother, who was at the bedside of his dying sister, to come to the hospital and pronounced her dead. Recently retired, Dr. Johnstone decided to research Scripture for himself to find answers in it, as to what happens to a person after death. In an effort to prevent bias from forming in his mind, he decided not to consult with any commentaries, but confine his studies mainly, but not exclusively, to The New International and King James versions of the Bible along with an English translation of the Septuagint. He also decided to obtain help from the Interlinear Bible, written in Hebrew, Greek, and English, in conjunction with The New Strongs Expanded Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible. From these sources, he performed a metaphoric autopsy to ferret out the answers to the souls postmortem existence. The pathology report, portrayed in Hell Know, came as a complete surprise.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. Living in Paris is far different than visiting Paris. Paris has to grow on you and into you - it is something you feel. The book describes the tentative reactions of someone who lands at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport with a one-way ticket and must confront a new job, a new language, a new home, a strange environment, and no familiar faces. The author describes his reactions and the eventual warmth he develops toward those quintessential Parisians, the local people in the Quartier. Another important facet of his life is also undergoing a radical change for he is soon to be joined by his wife-to-be, Helga. While Eric is discovering the sometimes thorny thickets of international relations with member countries of the IEA, Helga is busy learning the language and establishing a rapport with the local tradesfolk. Meanwhile, Eric finds the political landscape shifting under his feet and has to adapt to the realities of changing global energy policies driven in large part by the ascent to the US Presidency of Ronald Reagan. Come along with Helga and Eric as they learn to understand and love the people and the places of Paris and France.…

Paperback. Condition: Good. Jaculin H. Jones is a native of New Jersey and was born into a family of ten siblings. While attending college, she enjoyed singing and acting, which were her life. She married and moved to Maryland where she continued to enjoy these things while pursuing a career in healthcare. However, her passion remained in the arts. Singing for the Lord carried tremendous weight, which she felt every time she had to sing. She also wrote song lyrics that had a way of easing the discomfort in her life. Recently, she gained the courage to record her first solo single called, Urgency. This book, however, was birthed out of life-altering experiences that nearly took her life. Her story tells of God's mercy and grace and that he is indeed a promise keeper.…

Paperback. Condition: Very Good. : BERLIN TO THE GULF OF MEXICO; POW 5518 REMEMBERS author James J. Crooke, Jr. On his third combat mission over Germany as a B-17 Navigator the formation of bombers exploded sending four of the air crewmen to their deaths. The author and four other air crewmen parachuted to quick captivity some 20 miles from Berlin. J. Earle Bowden, Editor Emeritus The Pensacola News Journal in his column January 27, 2007 succinctly describes the author's first book: His lean narrative provides the mirror through which we see the many whose youth was cut short and their war transformed to cruel isolation, while others fought to liberate Europe. His memoir is a clearly articulated lesson for other generations. Bowden continues: With these revelations, Crooke hopes others will never know the hard lessons of his generation. As the years have passed, Crooke has obviously deepened his appreciation for all the old familiar places that were and will never be again.…

Hardback. Condition: Very Good. Having fewer words in their prophecies than the major prophets, the minor prophets still had a message that is lasting and profound even for today. These prophecies were put into historical perspective in the life of the nation of Israel, which spanned from well into the split of the nation into the Northern and Southern Kingdoms of c. 845 BC until after the return of the exiles from Babylon c. 425 BC. The prophecies varied from numerous warnings about the consequences of disobeying God's commands to the coming of the Messiah, which occurred some five hundred years after the time of the prophets.…
