Book condition: the end papers have darkened considerably, the text, apparantly of much better paper, is little affected; edges are marbled, and have darkened some; cover corners show board at all four corners, circa 25% of the leather cover on these corners has worn off; the lower board corners are bent a little; the leather spine is intact, but the leather hinges are starting to crack; spine has lost its brown stain, although the title lettering and decorative details in gilt are still plain. The hinges and binding are tight, and 390 rather detailed Fig.s are a testament to the patience of the artists-draftsmen of Imperial Germany, who, I fear didn't get any credit for their effort in this volume, and probably deserve plenty. …
