The book Black Diamonds brings back to life 11 men from the Negro Leagues who were prevented from playing professional baseball because of the color of their skin. Baseball historian and authority on the Negro Leagues, John Holway presents Max Manning, Wilmer Fields, Verdell Mathis, "Jake" Stephens, Chet Brewer, "Willie" Powell, George Giles, Willard "Home Run" Brown, Dave Barnhill and a few others. In the 1980s, Meckler Books was one of the few publishers that were offering books on the Negro Leagues and were the dominant publisher of baseball titles until McFarland came along. Second printing, both the non price clipped Dust Jacket and the book are in very good condition. I have around 190 publications on the Negro Leagues and Black Sports and more than 200 items on the Hall of Fame and its members in stock.
