First Edition Signed
Hardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. First Edition. Malanda, Frith & Frith, 2008. Quarto, 304 pages with numerous maps and illustrations (many in colour, including many from photographs by Clifford Frith). Colour-pictorial papered boards; a fine copy with the fine dustwrapper. The title page is signed by both authors. Loosely inserted is a receipt for prepayment for the book, printed on the verso of a colour reproduction of one of Frith's photographs; a short message to 'Dick' [Kimber] from the Friths is written in ink at the foot of the receipt. Also loosely inserted is a retained copy of a typed letter (2 pages quarto, Alice Springs, 7 December 2007) from Dick Kimber, an 'absolute scatter' brought on by having 'stayed up more than half the night reading and browsing, and - stimulated by the evidence you present - this morning have done a bit of hunting up of references in various books'. A handwritten draft of a shorter follow-up letter, dated 15 December, is also present. Provenance: Dick Kimber (Richard Glyn Kimber AM, 1939-2024), author, anthropologist, historian, and enthusiastic letter-writer. Signed.
