Softcover. Condition: Fine. Abnutzung / Risse - leicht. Published on the occasion of an eponymous exhibition of Tim Heads work at Parafin in London, this slim volume presents his explorations into the geometric abstraction of the circle via digital means. The work focuses on the digital mediums elusive material substance and on…our evolving relationship to it as a physical entity, deploying its basic material elements (pixel, coded instruction, inkjet dot) to give this substance a resonating presence in our physical space. With fields of colour and densely overlapping layers of infinite lines, Head constructs infinite, deeply psychedelic spaces without perspective or possibility of decay that reveal the illusory quality of this digital dimension.

Softcover. Condition: Fine. Abnutzung / Risse - leicht. In this book, the 2D and 3D stereoscopic and holographic artworks of Arent Weevers are highlighted in a special way by connoisseurs and critics, and by Weevers himself. There is more imagination in theology than you might think, and in art you find more traces of God than y…ou might suspect. That is the discovery of media artist and theologian Arent Weevers. For him, art and theology are the two bosoms of one heart. Weevers' internationally acclaimed interactive installations, 2D and 3D stereoscopic and holographic artworks reflect this journey of discovery. In this book they are discussed in a special way by connoisseurs and critics, and by Weevers himself. Musings provides a deepening and extremely personal insight into the work and motivations of a human-oriented and transcendent-oriented artist. The book consists of ten chapters on ten works of art. Prof. dr. dr. Aaron Rosen, an American specialist in the field of art and religion, kicks off with a foreword. The chapters are made up of four short articles: an expert's consideration of a work of art, the 'how and why' a particular work of art was created and thematic articles related to the work, such as: care for nature, physicality, suffering, painful beauty, desire, sources of inspiration, relationships and death.

Softcover. Condition: As New. In 1989, Richard Reisen spent several months as a security guard in an asylum seekers' inn at 5 Schiessstrasse in Düsseldorf-Heerdt, bringing his camera along. His photographs exemplify 'participatory observation,' capturing people, situations, and objects with a fresh perspective. Over thirty years… later, these images resonate with themes of flight and migration. They include handwritten notes in a visitor's book, vintage sash windows, and a cigarette machine, reflecting a culture where smoking was prevalent. Timeless motifs emerge, such as portraits beside cars, individuals proudly on their bicycles, cooking on a cramped hob, and the long waits next to a running washing machine. The highway in front of the terrace remains, along with the views from the rooms and balcony. A recurring theme is the passage of time, depicted through activities like haircuts, smoking, phone calls, and simply hanging out. These photographs serve as a poignant reminder of the human experience within the context of migration, capturing moments that are both distant and immediate, revealing the everyday lives of those seeking refuge.

Halbleinen mit fotoillustriertem Deckel. -- Mit Textbeiträgen von Rolf Sachsse ("The man by the tree") und Vrasidas Karalis ("Photographic Images as Historical Experiences"). - This is the first international monograph of the photographs of John Williams (Sydney 1933 Hobart 2016) wh…ose work, outside his own country, remains undiscovered. Inspired to take up photography by "The Family of Man" exhibition which went to Sydney in 1959, Williams was, from the outset, a street photographer in the strict sense: he walked the streets at random, waiting for the right moment to press the button of his already prepared camera. Besides amounting a mass of photographs the best of which have been selected here, he established one of the first photography galleries in Australia and was the first Head of Photography at Sydney College of the Arts where he was a legendary teacher of the next generation of Australian photographers. In the late 1980s, aware that his photographs were, themselves, cultural history, he studied the academic version of the subject. His PhD on the influences of the German avantgarde on Australian art in the 1920s was published and a number of other history books followed, along with a first small monograph of his own photographs. This volume, though, is the first to present him to an international audience with the standing he deserves. John Williams is amongst the best of Australian Street photographers.
